What is CAMRA?

CAMRA, the Campaign for Real Ale is an independent, voluntary organisation campaigning for real ale, community pubs and consumer rights.

CAMRA was formed in March 1971 by four men from the north-west who were disillusioned by the domination of the UK beer market by a handful of companies pushing products of low flavour and overall quality onto the consumer.

Its been a fabulous year with events, we have made new friends along the way and 2014 looks to be shaping up much the same.

Why not celebrate with us this evening with our 80’s themed evening which promises to be a great evening with friends all at YOUR local brew pub.

Many thanks for all your custom during the last year, we hope you have enjoyed 2013 as much as we have and we look forward to welcoming you in 2014.

Christmas Saving Club

Obviously we know that Christmas is just around the corner but here at The Royal Standard we are already thinking of Christmas 2014.  Far too often people (including us) let Christmas sneak up on us & suddenly, somewhere around late October or early November, it hits us: Christmas is right around the corner and our budget is going to have to catch up!

So start your planning early and join our Thrift Club next year and spread the cost of your Christmas.

The savings club starts again on Friday 10th January 2014 and runs every Friday between 7.00pm & 9.00pm

You can save as much as you like and of course by the time Christmas comes around again you will have a nice cash lump sum in your pocket to help with the costs. If you would like to join have a chat with Tim, Jenny or Franky at the pub or stop by on the 10th and sign up.

We would like to wish you and your family a happy and healthy Christmas holiday.

Mad Goose – Back by popular demand!

After listening to our locals’ requests, we are delighted to announce that Mad Goose is tapped an back on the bar. Time to get down to your local and find out what else is on!

Mad Goose

Watch out for the Goose, her hiss is far worse than her bite, though she might drive you clucking mad, underneath it all she’s not that bad.

Mad Goose (4.2% ABV) is a zesty pale ale with a smooth and citrusy finish. Brewed with English Maris Otter, Caragold and Wheat malts, with Hallertau Northern Brewer bittering hops and Cascade and Willamette aroma hops. Winner of five awards.

Mad Goose is best served with white meats and poultry, such as pork, lamb or chicken.
